In my newspaper’s Sunday edition, there was an article about how women can keep their spending under control. Here’s what it said:
“Shop in high heels. Stilettos may not be the comfiest choice for a mall crawl, but a new study from Brigham Young University found that the higher the heel, the less likely you are to overspend. Concentrating on your balance may trick your brain into making more balanced decisions. Study participants who had to stand on one foot, for example were more likely to buy a mid-priced TV.”
Seriously? There is so much wrong with this study and it’s conclusion, I hardly no where to begin. So I won’t. I don’t think you have to have a background in statistical analysis like I do, to see the fallacies.
And trust me, having had four foot surgeries and wearing a stupid brace for about seven weeks to avoid the most major one of all, I really see the ridiculousness of this suggestion.
So that’s my melt-down for today. Stupid research studies!
