Why I wanted to kick someone with my surgical boot

It’s a good thing I’m in a surgical boot.

Hmm. Actually, I could’ve given a good hard kick, now that I think about it. I was angry enough. Read on……

Here’s the story:

A very frail woman, I would guess in her late eighties, came out of the grocery store while I was waiting for my husband to bring the car around for me. I was thinking that she was going to wait for someone to pick her up.

But no, she started heading out to the parking lot.

There was nothing I could do.

So when my husband picked me up, I asked him to turn around and follow her so he could help her with her groceries. By the time we got there, she was putting the last bag in her trunk.

But then we noticed she had a handicapped parking permit. And rightly so.

So here’s what made me mad. If it had been able, I would’ve driven around that parking lot, checking out every car in every handicapped spot to make sure they were parked there legitimately.

Because I’m 99% sure, there were a number of violators. That’s why this woman had to park where she did.

The point:

As an avid Bible reader, I know that the main theme of the New Testament is justice. Jesus talked about it all the time.

  • That means we look out for the interests of others.
  • That means we take a stand.
  • That means we stick our neck out.

We don’t have to do anything dangerous. I would’ve taken pictures of the illegally parked cars and then called the police.

There are a lot of things I don’t understand. But I particularly don’t understand lack of compassion. I don’t understand why people think they’re “entitled” somehow, especially to something they’re not.

note on car (by the way, I don’t think violators always fit this ciriteria.)

I think most people are kind and considerate but there are certainly some jerks out there.

Do I dare add my usual ending now?

God bless and I hope you have good day.
