how to measure success

How to measure our success with a better scale

I think it’s so easy to get caught up with the world’s way of measuring success. Maybe we need to come up with our own measurement for success.

how to measure success

measuring success

  • A blog is successful if it’s has thousands of followers.
  • A parent is successful if their children graduate college and make lots of money.
  • A teacher is successful if all her students do great on their tests
  • A pastor is successful if he has a large congregation with a big budget.

And while there is nothing wrong with any of this, in God’s world success is bench marked very differently.

Look at the ragtag of people Jesus called his disciples. Look at the majority of his followers. The vast majority were uneducated, poor, and unsophisticated, certainly not people we would label successful.

Sometimes I get caught up in this myself and measure my own success according to some artificially concocted number. When I do, I come up short.

The Bible has a lot to say about success. Instead of me giving you my definition, check out this source and come up with your own.

But then I read from Oswald Chambers and I am encouraged.

In the history of God’s work you will nearly always find that it has started with the obscure, the unknown, the ignored, but the steadfastly true to Jesus Christ.

So let’s just concentrate on the steadfast part and let God do the rest.

God bless and I hope you have a good day.
