LIFE

I love it when God interrupts my plans

I had such plans over the week-end. Things to check off my to-do list for Christmas.

Now there is a good reason. I’m scheduled for an injection in my back tomorrow and I might be out of commission for a few days. Then our daughter and our two little grandsons get to come for the whole week. We are excited.

But because of the scheduling of these events, and because I don’t want to have to worry about cooking when they’re here, (I mean my two little grandsons are the cutest ever!) I’m trying to get some meals ready and in the freezer ahead of time.

Then I got a phone call.

A special someone wanted to spend the day with me and I’m ashamed to admit it, but I almost said I’m was too busy.

Thank goodness I recognized the author of the interruption.

GOD

He does it to me often. I know better than to not give in immediately.

And you know about all those things I needed to get done that day? They all got done and I had lots of unexpected fun to top it all off.

I often write about the importance of prayer and Bible study being the best way to learn about God. (If you type in these words in the search box, you’ll find lots of other posts.)

But sometimes we learn more about God when we simply obey.

God will always see that what needs to get done will get done if we just obey. And if it doesn’t get done, it probably wasn’t that important anyway.

There is an old proverb that says “when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”

when the student is ready

I think that means that there are optimum points in our lives, (in this instance our spiritual life) when we are ready to to learn that next big concept in our faith walk.

God steps in then and presents us that opportunity. Whether we take it or not is entirely up to us. God never forces our obedience. But if we don’t, it may be a long time before that next opportunity comes around again. There is almost always an optimum time to learn something new. I think that’s true in our spiritual lives as well.

I hope the next time God interrupts your life, you will be willing to take the next step.

God bless and have a good day.
