body wash

what to think about the next time you shower

This morning I hopped into the shower.

wash sign in bathroom(Isn’t this a cute sign? It’s not “waffely-looking” as this picture might indicate. It’s made from scrapbook paper, glue on rhinestone letters on a piece of cardboard and then inserted in an antique picture frame. The bow at the top is made from wired ribbon.)

So I lathered up with my body wash

that informed me I would now “relax and think clearly”.

I did.

I thought about how we wash our bodies. Most of us can’t start the day without a shower. We clean our house (maybe not every day.) We clean our cars. We wash our clothes and our dishes.

We just clean a lot here in America.

But I don’t know about you, but I don’t “clean-up” the inside nearly as much.

When I woke up this morning, I was greet with this beautiful site outside my window.

snow on pine tree

It’s still snowing pretty hard. But as I always do when there is this much snow, I thought about my “sins being washed white as snow.” Psalm 51:7

The outside is always easy to make look presentable but Jesus has really harsh words for the Pharisees for this very reason. He accused them of looking good on the outside and full of corruption on the inside. Matthew 23

So today during my prayer time today, I’m going to concentrate more on what’s on the inside. It’s what on the inside that really makes a difference. It what’s on the inside that God looks at. And it’s what’s on the inside that we don’t clearly see most of the times.

The bible doesn’t say that the

“The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick;

Who can understand it?

I, the Lord, search the heart.

I test the mind, even to give to each man according to his ways,

According to the results of this deeds.” Jeremiah 17: 9 & 10

We can clean up our outsides as much as we want. But when we catch ourselves speaking unkind words, false words, complaining and demeaning words, jealous words, when we find ourselves living the same lifestyle as non-believers, when we catch ourselves being unmerciful, that’s the time to remind ourselves that we aren’t nearly as clean on the inside as our outside falsely claims.

The snow is still falling, covering up everything, making everything look white. But underneath it all it’s still dirt. (They tell me at WP that this video works. It doesn’t on my present computer but hopefully it will on yours.

God bless and I hope you have a good day.
