Day: May 28, 2016

week in review and thank you WWII vets

My hubby and I are watching “Pearl Harbor” tonight as a tribute to World War II veterans.

Then we will watch a couple of other movies that remind us what our freedom caused so many.

According to statistics released by the Veteran’s Administration, our World War II vets are dying at a rate of approximately 492 a day. This means there are approximately only 855,070 veterans remaining of the 16 million who served our nation in World War II. There were 291,557 battle deaths.

Are you aware most people rarely think of our veterans this weekend? Especially younger people. Take some time this weekend and talk to your children who are old enough to understand and share with them how close America came to having a major war fought on our soil.

Remind them that our freedom, our way of life, was fought for by brave men and women. Memorial day is all about “remembering”. Don’t let this weekend go by without taking  a few minutes to honor them with your thoughts and maybe a quick salute heavenward.

And if you should be fortunate enough to come across one of these WW II vets, be sure to tell them, “Thank-you”.

Moving on, Here’s what I wrote about this past week:

Monday was Which side of the road are you on? It wasn’t an obscure euphemism.

Tuesday I wrote about Why “anyway” can be a great encouragement. Wednesday was the second part.

Thursday I wrote Why we should make good word choices.

Friday was about a most unusual way to stop sweating.
