Alphabet of thanks: beauty

I am thankful today for all things “Beautiful”. And there are many. What is beautiful to one person might be very different than what is beautiful for another. But here’s my spontaneous list:

A sunset.

A painting.

A baby’s smile.

baby's smile

A Christmas tree

A beautifully decorated table.

A smile.

A sunrise.

Ice Crystals

Christmas lights

A house decorated for Christmas.

Raindrops on Lady’s mantles.

Japanese Beetles

A mother’s smile.

I could keep going.

My most recent “beautiful” was this past Tuesday. Our six-year-old grandson has Down Syndrome. You can read about his birth here. His parents worked hard to get him in public school. We all knew he would thrive. Well, he’s more than thriving. Seeing him in his classroom during his Halloween party made me all teary-eyed. He loves school and is loved by everyone and he has surprised the staff with how well he is doing. He “introduced” us to this teacher, “Grampy, Nana” and pointed at us. His speech is very limited. Anyway, his smile lit up the room and was beautiful.

There are so many beautiful sights in the world. Even in the chaos and violence of today’s world, there is beauty.  It’s hard to see sometimes, but it’s there. Why don’t you write your own list. You might be surprised what you come up with.

When we focus on beauty, we can ignore the ugly for a while.

God bless and I hope you find something beautiful today.
