A beautiful walk in the snowy woods

Last week, after a fresh snowfall, we walked in the woods. It’s a state park about two miles from our house and only a couple of the main roads are plowed. So once we veer off those, it can be tough going.

Often we walked down to Lake Michigan. How great is that?  In these pictures, no plowing had been done so it was hard walking.

Here’s the walk on a fall day.

Stopping place in the winter.

I don’t know which time of year I think it’s the prettiest. The reason I don’t have summer pictures is that it’s a state park and we don’t walk here in the summer. Way too many people.

God has created such a beautiful world, hasn’t He? I’ve always enjoyed being outside but winter not so much, until a couple of years ago when my husband really wanted me to walk with him. I happened been able to do that for a number of years prior due to the many foot problems and subsequent foot surgeries. It was a snowy night when he asked and I don’t like being cold.

But I went anyway. It turned out to be kind of magical. The snowflakes were drifting down on us and they were huge. There was no wind. It was great. After that, I was hooked. If anyone had told me I would be walking outside every day in the winter, no matter what the weather is like, I would have said, “No, way”.

Never say never, right?

I’m still walking outside in the cold three years later. Let’s face it, we don’t always know what is best for us until someone brings it to our attention. I’m so glad my husband knew what I needed before I did.

I love coming in the house with red cheeks and drinking hot tea ’till I warm up.

It’s great.

I always feel closer to God when I’m outside. I kind of think that’s how He planned it.

God bless and have a good day.
