Christmas Decorating/2017

A different kind of Christmas this year

I usually don’t post on Saturdays but seeing as it’s countdown to Christmas and most of you are probably going nuts these past few days, I thought this quote by Abraham Lincoln would be well-timed. Of course, Jesus said many years earlier. 🙂

I’m not frantic at all but that’s because we celebrated our Christmas already.

Some Christmas ideas for the less-motivated

It’s one thing to have traveling “issues” with two adults, but with two young children, it could be far worse. We are so grateful that there never was any accidents or car trouble.

So we celebrated Christmas last weekend. Celebrating a week early made it easy for everyone to be there.

But it’s hard to get used to having this week “freed up”. I find myself not really knowing what to do. I’m walking around the house kind of “scattered” feeling if you know what I mean. But life only guarantees one thing for sure, change.

Dining Room Christmas 2017

This year is the first Christmas without my mom and that’s the hardest change to accept. I’ve only missed celebrating one Christmas with her and that was because she went home to Arkansas one year. So when I came across this quote I wanted to share it with you.

It’s easy to get caught up in our routines, our thinking, our status quo. But we need to be open to all kinds of change if we’re going to have “life” in our years. I may find the change in my Christmas this year a little hard but I feel somewhat excited to see how it all turns out.

Christmas Decorating/2017

Some things will not change. My husband and will keep with our tradition of opening our presents to each other Christmas morning and then spending Christmas day with our son and his family. Our daughter-in-law is not only grieving the loss of my mother whom she was close to but her younger brother died a month after my mom’s death after a long battle with cancer. This will be a hard day for her as well.

“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count.  It’s the life in your years.” Abraham Lincoln

God bless and have a great day.
