Ways to decorate a coffee table

Decorating a coffee table can be a nightmare for many people. Too much and it looks cluttered. The most helpful hint I have to offer is that if you are going to use a number of items, then have a container to “corral” them and keep them looking “intentional”…

The coffee table has been completely sanded and re-stained, and re-varnished. If you look closely you can see I left the narrow edge the original color. I used a mid-tone stain around the border but left unstained in the middle. It’s been painted white and distressed. I think it turned out great. I will include the DIY later.

I like the corbels, but I removed them later. Too much.

The container with the plant on top is a cleaned out candle holder from a Bath and Body Works candle. I painted it red. Then painted it white and distressed it.

This was the final arrangement.

Those are stones in the little muffin holder on the far left. I love having stones displayed in every room if I can. The reason?

They remind me of Joshua telling the priests to gather stones for each tribe to remind them of God’s faithfulness. It reminds me of the same. Plus, they are organic. And I love organic in every room. I moved the stones to another place and put the cow in his circular “pen”.

This is what the coffee table arrangement looked like before the current arrangement. I really, really, liked this. I may go back to it. I like using mirrors in unusual ways. I particularly like them on a table.
