Tangled messes and tangled lives

Pinterest can be misleading.

I read somewhere that it’s a good idea to wash your yarn ahead of time  with added fabric softener to soften and fluff it up. Sounds good, right?

The instructions said to use a mesh bag which I did. But I think I should have re-balled the yarn tightly first and tucked in the loose ends.

This is how it looked when I took it out of the dryer. (It was fine when I took it out from the washer.)

It’s a good thing I like to untangle things, like jewelry, yarn, Christmas tree lights, etc. I’ve been told I have the patience of Job and in lots of cases that’s true.  Here’s the neatly wound balls after I got done.

But it got me to thinking. Wouldn’t life be great if we could untangle our messes as easily as we do other things?  I have some circumstances in my life that I’d love to untangle with no loose strings. I don’t like loose strings.

I like my life neat and tight. I don’t like ambiguity.

Does anyone really?

Although, I think I might dislike it more than most people. My childhood was filled with dread and uncertainty so I’m kind of hard-wired that way.

Consequently, anxiety and fear are often how satan (purposely not capitalized) tries to undermine my faith.

That’s one of the reasons, I can only tolerate clutter for a short period of time. Clutter and anxiety go hand in hand. And even the most tolerant of us do better with neatness and structure in our lives.

I’m so glad I can take my fears to God and He doesn’t judge me for them. I never worry about being honest because Jesus experienced many of the same fears I do. He is our advocate in heaven.

So if you feel like your life is a tangled mess, remember, God sees your messes and can help you untangle them.

In the meantime, maybe if you were to find something to physically untangle, it would help you to feel you were in charge of something.

Try it. It couldn’t hurt.

God bless and have a tangle-free day.
