How to be “kind” to God

Is that even a “thing”?

God has feelings.

First, we have to remember that God has feelings. If you find that hard to believe, read the Bible. Because it’s all there.

God’s feelings, unlike ours though, are based on His love for us and His holiness. He can be hurt in a way we can’t possibly be. And His hurt is somehow divine. I don’t understand it for sure but I know what the Bible teaches.

So for our discussion, let’s at least agree that the Bible does indeed teach God has feelings, and the only beings who can hurt His feelings are us.

Can we show kindness to God?

So how can we show kindness to God? Can we increase His joy?

Sometimes at night, I quietly say to God, “Father, I think I might have made you smile today”.

On the other hand, sometimes I might say “Father, I think I might have made you sad today.”

(I have no hesitancy in communicating with God this way.)

Making God smile.

We make Him smile when we talk to Him throughout the day. We make Him smile when we say, “Thank you, God, for blessing me.” We make Him smile every time we smile at others. We make Him smile simply by being in communion with Him all day not just at our set time.

What about you? How will you be kind to God today?

What can you do to make Him smile?

The ways we make God smile are as numerous as the stars in the skies. They are as unique as snowflakes.

They are commonplace and extraordinary at the same time.

They are big and small and wide and deep. In as many ways as we are kind to man, we are kind to God.

Ways we do that

We can make God smile when we feed a child. We can make God smile when we help an elderly person with their groceries. We can make God smile by building a large church. We can make God smile by building a mud hut.

I think looking at ways to make God smile is so much simpler than wring our hands trying to figure out how to share our faith in convoluted ways. It’s really not that complicated when you look at it in terms of making God smile, is it?

Matthew 25:40 “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

This might be a new concept to you. If it is, study the Bible and find all the references to God’s feelings. Determine for yourself how you can be kind to God.

God bless and have a great day.
