We are in Kentucky. God is surprising me once again. This. happens all the time. I expected to enjoy it. I expected to learn a lot. I expected to be blown-away by the ark itself. What I didn’t expect was for it to be a spiritual experience. But […]
Hi. I'm so glad you're here. I write about faith issues, mental health issues (primarily depression and anxiety), and throw in some DIY now and then for good measure. Hope you enjoy my site.
Families can be extremely complicated. Especially when their is a death. I knew of a family a few years ago that was quite fractured. Yet, when the patriarch of the family was dying, his family came to his side. They took turns sitting at his bedside for six long […]
My husband surprised me with a trip for Mother’s Day. We are headed to the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum in Kentucky. I like to take pictures when we travel and especially of barns. I really like this first one as it looks like the buildings are […]
OK, so I have this adorable she/shed about thirty feet from our main cabin. Can I just say that it’s truly my “Happy Place.” The fun I had decorating it the first time around was beyond the pale. My first house to decorate from the beginning. It was […]
Depression is a hard subject to discuss. Depending on one’s mood when one reads anything, what is written can feel hurtful. That is never my intention.
But at the same time, the truth cannot be ignored. Depression IS treatable. It can be overcome.
It doesn’t matter how we got into the pit, we can get out. But that almost always means we face some truths about ourselves. That’s true with almost any endeavor I can think of.
I don’t post anything about depression unless I’m sure I’m in agreement with what the “professionals” say. At the same time, my own experience and those of countless others suggest that there are individual components that are always present, meaning people have unique ways of getting better that worked for them and could help others. This is called anecdotal evidence and it has a legitimate place in the discussion.
No one needs to feel guilty they are depressed. No one would choose depression. It doesn’t matter how we got into the pit. It only matters we get out.
