Tag: an unusual spray painting process

My unusually painted chair.

(Last year at this time, we were refinishing our basement. This post is from then.)

We are remodeling our basement. Not an expensive remodel and except for the ceiling, we’ve done it all ourselves. Even at that, it cost enough.

I needed a new chair for a table in the basement. I decided to use an old farm chair I’ve had for ages. I mean this is pretty bad.

I wanted to do something a little fun. So I just got out my gold spray paint and my grey paint because I love gold and gray together. I’m not nuts about gold and black but I dearly love gold and gray. (Did you see how clever I just was by spelling gray both ways?)

First I sprayed the chair Granite Gray by Rustoleum 3X. I let it almost dry but it still had a sheen. I took the gold spray paint (same brand) and painted the legs. Then I shot the gold paint on the gray paint along the edge of the seat so it moved from the force of the spray in a random pattern.

Here’s the final result:

I think it turned out pretty darn cute and certainly unique. Although it isn’t a good picture, if you look closely you can see the splotches of gold.

I love spray painting. Can you tell?

I hope you have a great day and God bless.
