Don’t you just hate it when everything is going great and someone tries to drag you into their drama? I’ve found myself in this situation more than once. Can I just give a little advice?
Don’t get caught up in someone else’s drama. Usually this occurs when someone wants to unload their problems with no plan to solve them. They just want to pass it off. What often happens is that they dump their burden on us and it become ours to solve. They move on leaving our shoulders sagging under the weight.
I’ve learned to identify these situations pretty accurately and now I often say, “Hmmmm, what do YOU think you should do?” Or, “What have YOU decided to do about it?” “Let me know what you decide to do.” Or if I’ve had my fill, “I guess you better figure it out.”
I’ve learned that I shouldn’t try to solve people’s problems for them if they aren’t going to be an active participant in the solution as well. You’d be surprised at the number of people who never really try to solve anything.
So today let me encourage you not to continue to get tangled up in the drama of others. Some people are “drama queens (and kings)” anyway and that means there will always be drama in their lives. That’s how they roll. But you don’t have to roll along with them.
You probably have enough of your own problems anyway. (Please no reminders about “bearing another’s burden”. The bible does not teach we should carry another’s burden for them but with them. It’s a judgement call.)
(The following picture is from a book I have at the cabin. I included the author’s name in an earlier draft but it’s not showing up now. I apologize. When I get back to the cabin I’ll write a quick post with name of book and author.)
God bless and I hope you have a good day.
