Prayer and thinking are a huge part of each other. This meme below is good but it doesn’t tell the whole story.

I’m sharing this today because it reminds me how often these memes fall short of the whole truth.

Thinking can be praying.

I believe “thinking” is very much a part of praying. I also believe that thinking throughout the day can be a form of prayer. I’m in good company. Dallas Willard in “Hearing God” suggests that our thoughts if guided by the Holy Spirit, are very much a form of prayer.

Keeping our prayers active.

When I think about my own prayer life, I know that after I pray in the morning, I often find myself “prayerfully thinking” throughout the day. In fact, I would suggest this is what we are supposed to do to keep our prayers active.

Prayer is so much more than a set-time in the morning. It’s meant to be continuous,
“Pray without ceasing.” I Thessalonians 5:17
