In defense of MOST men. Yep, that’s what I said.

I had a neat experience yesterday.

My husband and I have been looking for a new truck since the early spring. We wanted a certain brand (Toyota), a certain color, etc. We also wanted to buy from our local dealer because they are outstanding. We were willing to wait as long as we needed. Finally, we decided on one yesterday and we bought it. And, of course, that meant dealing with the salesman and the finance person who would go over all the paperwork and take our check. Ugh.

Both of them were absolutely wonderful. Remember, no one sold us a truck. We went in and basically said, “We want this one.” So they had nothing to gain.

They were both friendly, professional and overall very likable. I couldn’t help but think about all the political acrimony that is prevalent this week over the Ford/Kavanaugh situation. I don’t know what happened between the two of them and neither does anyone else. I think we can all agree on that. And whether he should still be sworn in as a supreme court justice is not anything I will discuss here.

But what I will say is this:

I listened to these two young men. I heard them talk about their families, and I looked in their eyes as they did. They talked with such pride and such love.

I would be willing to bet my life’s savings that these two young men are about as honest and above reproach as possible. My husband, my son, my son-in-law, my grandson, my nephews, my niece’s husband, the husbands of my friends, the men I know in my Bible study…..in fact every man I know is decent. They’re not creeps or jerks or sexual predators. I’m only writing this because I am very tired of other women speaking for me and assuming I feel the same way they do.

male female relationships/inspirational

I don’t.

About sexual assault, of course, I do. But it seems like many women are dumping every man into the same garbage heap. BUT:

Not all women are telling the truth and all men liars any more than all women are liars and all men truthful.  And since when are only men labeled as sexual predators. Hmmm, anyone remember Mary Kay Letourneau?

I can understand how we are divided by politics. But I can’t, not for one minute, understand why we are divided by our gender. All the men I know are honorable and if I were a betting person, I would bet my entire life’s savings on that.

Let’s give each other a break, shall we?  Let’s assume the best. Of course, women need to be smart and demonstrate caution. But let’s not be afraid to be innocently hugged or innocently hug someone of the opposite sex.

My daughter had a windshield break on her car on the way to work the other day. She bought a new one and in her workplace parking lot, she tried to install it herself. She wasn’t able to. Two men saw her struggle but didn’t offer to help. She felt that had it not been for this last week, either one of these men would’ve come to her assistance. But they were probably afraid they’d be accused of something.

I hope men and women can move on. I don’t want to live in a world where we are all suspicious of each other. Where we think every one of the opposite sex has an agenda.

Aren’t we all better than that?

I really believe so.

God bless and I hope you have a wonderful day.
