What is the real freedom of letting others just “be”?

What is the real freedom of letting others just “be?”? It’s amazingly freeing.

The confusion that arises when people confuse us.

Did you ever have an epiphany at a most ordinary time on a most ordinary day? When you’re doing the most ordinary thing? (Actually, when I think about it, that’s when all my epiphanies have always come. You feel like someone has finally found your switch and turned on the lights.

Yesterday that happened to me. It was during a conversation with a friend I had last night. I learned that there was an ongoing situation in here life that I knew nothing about. I realized right then that despite our previous conversations in the  about this very subject wasn’t likely to happen.

She’s very reserved and I think perhaps a little too proud.

And finally, I think I’m ok with that.

There is freedom in letting others be themselves.

I personally believe this is how God means for us to live. To love others, yes, but to exercise freedom from situations that weigh us down and that we can’t change anyway. Christ often walked away from people and situations when there was no openness to his message.

  • When you accept that people are who they are, you become free to be who you are.
  • When you realize you can’t make them behave the way you want, you are free to behave the way you want.
  • When you realize they are going to do what they want to do, you are free to do the same without apology or explanation.

However, I’m not suggesting that we become hard and uncaring.

Never!!

We just need to think.

We shouldn’t give away all our emotional energy on situations we are not going to change. Real change can only come from within. Accordingly, that applies to the people in our life as much as it does to us. This isn’t a case of “It is what it is.” It’s a case of “it is what it is for now.

And now is the only moment in which we can live.

God bless.
